New name, JNC Jerk, and ownership from the previous place which was Oak's, just in the same location. I gave it a try, but unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The food was overpriced, lacked flavour, and the customer service was poor. I genuinely feel bad for them—it’s a tough location that really needs something special to succeed, like exceptional food or a unique experience. Instead, it already feels like they’re struggling, even though they just took over. With so much competition in the area, I doubt they’ll last another year unless they make major changes to menu. In response to the owner. I tried the food at JNC Jerk Hut and wasn't impressed, but I'm genuinely happy to hear that the business is doing well and know how hard it is to run one. I wish you well. Side note: Most of the reviews are from Oak's due to the location. You should ask Google to remove the reviews from the previous establishment so customers can get a real sense of your restaurant.
First I’m ever leaving a review on a Jamaican restaurant in Brampton! Because I’m always disappointed. But My friend bought food and told me to try it ! And I must say 10/10! My new Jamaican food spot ,first in a long time I tasted a Jamaican restaurant food that everything in the box taste good. The coleslaw, the Goat, the barbe-fry chicken bomb! The only thing I would change which is a personal preference is the type of rice used, not a fan of parboil rice used for my rice and peas but even that they made taste good and had flavor. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!
Oaks Kitchen is a humble, hole-in-the-wall Jamaican eatery with only three small tables -- clearly geared towards takeout. The menu showcases Jamaican favourites, and the friendly owner, Howard, adds a personal touch to the experience. I ordered the special jerk pork with festival ($14, no rice) and their famous vegetable soup ($6.50). While the coleslaw accompanying the jerk pork was incredibly flavourful and vibrant, the pork itself was disappointingly dry and overly lean. I later learned from Howard that the supplier provided a different cut of pork than usual, but I wish the dish had been juicier and had a bit more fat for balance. To salvage the dryness, I added oxtail gravy for $2, which helped, but for a total of over $22 (no drink included), I felt the meal fell short. The soup, however, was satisfying -- hearty and worth trying again. Next time, I’d definitely opt for the jerk chicken, which looked much juicier than the pork. Oaks Kitchen has potential, but for this visit, the execution didn’t quite hit the mark. ✅ Must-try: Vegetable soup ❌ Skip: Jerk pork (for now) ? Price: ~$22 for a meal without drinks Would I return? Yes, but only to try the jerk chicken or oxtail!
The moment I entered the man shouted “Where are you going “. It was scary and aggressive. I left immediately and the place smelled had and was empty. I went to Barque next street definitely recommend
Dine in experience. Angela and Howard were very welcoming and professional. The food was tasty and so well presented. We visited during the ByBlacks restaurant week in May 2023 and we will be back!
Oaks kitchen serves some of the best food in Peel Region, period! The presentation is always very well done. And the taste is absolutely amazing I will definitely keep supporting this restaurant. And by the way, they make THE BEST RED PEAS SOUP in the GTA!!!!
This place has the best jerk in Brampton hands down! I had the jerk pork and it was so juicy and flavorful. The food is such high quality, it really is gourmet. I'll definitely be coming back to Oaks Kitchen. Edit: November 2025. This restaurant changed ownership and is no longer called Oaks Kitchen. The jerk is not the same as before, that's all I'm going to say.
