Visiting Brompton from Ottawa and went to this spot near closing time, however, the staff was very patient and managed still set up a nice take out box of brown stew and fried chicken with rice and peas. The food was absolutely amazing and tasted like a home cooked meal. I highly recommend this spot. Looking forward to going back.
I've tried a few Caribbean places in Brampton and Mississauga and we seem to have adopted Island Kitchen as our gold standard. We just tried another disappointing place from Mississauga and again agreed "we should have just gone to Island Kitchen." Thank you for consistently good food, and good service.
How fortunate to know one of the best West Indian restaurants is just a walking distance fun me. The food is flavorful, affordable, and always fresh. The service is quick, and there is plenty of seating inside and outside for the warmer months.
I'm a frequent customer and I say that the chicken is generally good. The best I've had when done well. This is the only restaurant I eat chicken from. But, I can't get past the plating. Why is there so much rice? The rice is a basic side but somehow takes up the entire container and we pay so much for the food. You can't convince me that rice cost just as much as the protein. The order didn't even come with a side salad to help balance the chicken. While the oxtail order had so much rice, the steamed veggies didn't have space on the plate. I highly encourage that the portioning be fixed.I would suggest a balanced option of food would be better ex. Protein, rice, salad and Plantain or festival, etc. Thank you
Delicious food to grab when you’re in the area. I wanted to stay healthy so I ordered the curry chicken lunch special with white rice and coleslaw. I got the jerk chicken with rice and peas and coleslaw for my husband. So good! Thanks for the yummy food and good service :)
Listen to me as a real yardie this IS IT ok? A IT DIS!!!! Everything was on point chef definitely know what he/she is doing nothing missed out. Only thing is I asked for curry goat gravy and I got oxtail :/? mama on the phone said it’s a kitchen mistake and she was sweet so that’s alright. but a 10/10 food fresh & Nice
I HAD to come here and review after ordering for the first time. I’ve been trying to find a reliable Jamaican restaurant in Brampton and I finally found it; you know how picky Caribbean people can be when they’re eating out lol. Everything was FRESHH, hot & delicious. Steaming hot flavourful fried chicken, non mushy rice and peas! I’ve had terrible experiences around Brampton and i’ve been traumatized lol. This is the only place i’ll be ordering from, thank you so much for representing & being here, I will be ordering over and over again. Nuff love!
