Ordered jerk pork. While waiting remembered I had been here months ago with bland food. Hoped it would be better this time but unfortunately that was not the case. Pork was predominantly fat with no flavour at all. Wonderbread has more seasoning than the food here. Disappointed.
I have been feeling sick with a cough . So on Thursday May 15.2025 I stop in for a chicken soup so I ordered 2, mind you I had not taste in mouth , but I tell you the soup was Rich , tasty lots of meat and food i actually called Shelly around 4:30 pm and asked if she had more soup so I order 2 more. The best home cook taste chicken soup I ever bought at a restaurant I highly recommend Shelly for your Chicken soup it’s a 10+. Good job Shelly
The food is good although there are few rooms for improvement. The dumplings were dry but they also soaked up a lot of oil. The banana bread was also dry. The plaintain was a bit too overripe and greasy. The breadfruit tasted like it was just sitting there. It was not fresh. The ackee was good. Their boiled provision was also good. I love how soft everything was. Their goat was good but I found it a bit too spicy for my tolerance. The jerk chicken, seemed it could use a bit more spice and flavor but still decent. It could've also be a little more tender. Some parts were tender and some part dry. The coleslaw was good. The plantain porridge was decent. It just needed a little more plantain taste. Rice and peas was also decent. I also love how affordable everything was and you get a large portion even for the small size. They are also not stingy with the gravy. Edit: Ordered oxtail and it was extremely chewy. Needed to cook much longer. It needed a bit more flavor and butter beans. Did not get coleslaw with it even though I called and ask if it came with the meal and was told yes. I guess that only applies when you order rice. The ground provisions was soft but needed some salt. Not a fan of the dumpling. Slightly gummy/slimy texture on the outside. Coleslaw was still good. Bbq chicken was disappointing because why would you sell a jerk spiced chicken as bbq chicken. If someone wants jerk chicken they can order it. I did not expect to get jerk chicken flavor instead of bbq. I lower my review to a 3 because it is just ok for the price. Too much inconsistency and room for improvement.
Shirley’s kitchen I would have to rate them above five star because their customer service is really really really solect pleasant phase. There’s nobody behind the counter with their face all screwed up and bend me spending my money. Customer service has to be on point food is very clean, not to salty all seasons well portion what they’re serving is very well and considerate. I like I said customer service. It’s just a point food is on point dude. Check the out. Yes I’ve done both takeout and delivery. I haven’t tried dining in, but I will do that soon. The spot in BRAMPTON Shirley’s kitchen 100% customer service and Food 100% there on point.
Nice looking shop. I had high hopes. I ordered oxtail. It wasn't good at all and I got some pieces of meat that were very fatty. Lacked flavor. It hard to mess up oxtail.... I honestly took 2 bites in the car and went to another spot across the parking lot and ordered a whole new meal. I'm really not trying to disrespect you place but i hope you re evaluate your oxtail recipe. Maybe everything else is good but I'm not coming back. Also, 4 pieces of oxtail for $18? SMH.
Excellent food! The secret here is that jerk pork boy!! Everything was fresh, I appreciated the love they put in the food. Great to see a new Jamaican food spot in Brampton! Cheers!
