The quality of the food in this establishment has deteriorated. It once was an establishment that was known for quality dishes at a reasonable cost. I paid nearly $50.00 for 2 large oxtail dinners. I'm fully aware that most of these Caribbean eateries love to pile on the rice and skimp on meat. Therefore I asked for less rice and a little more meat. Why, in a take out restaurant, when we're not seated at a table and no one is serving us , did 2 large oxtail dinners cost $50.00 The reason I was told is because I asked for a few extra pieces of oxtail, 3 to be exact ! Nearly $10.00 extra was added. The food was deplorable. The rice and peas was not fully cooked. It did have a nice flavour , but hard and very unpleasant to chew. The oxtail was tough and lacked so much seasoning. Such a disappointment ! They seem to only be interested in making money and not satisfying the customers with the good food that they were once known for. Lesson learned. I'll never ever go back.
I am writing to express my disappointment with the quality of the food. It was not up to par, and I would not recommend it. The taste was off-putting, and it was a poor experience and was underwhelming and it did not meet my expectations.
Rose has been my day 1 for cakes many years now. When she branched into providing Caribbean food, that was the icing on the cake. My favourite is the escoveich fish although everything is delicious. Here’s my dinner from yesterday
Food is good but thats about it. The service is extremely slow. They had 1 girl at front taking orders and serving the food and she isn't in a rush to do anything. 1 person in front of me and it took more than 15mins to get fried chicken and oxtail order. Seating is limited and the tables are all dirty / clean yourself. Washroom is not clean. They don't have paper towels. Even the toilet seat is the wrong size for the bowl...
THIS PLACE DOESNT EXIST!! I travelled 30 mins to find out there’s no restaurant. There’s no such thing as Rose Kitchen. They didn’t even have the decency to change the address or update phone number. PLZ DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!
I just wish Rose's kitchen would cook with people's health in mind. Their porridge is sooo loaded with sugar, its not even palatable. Very disappointing!
Updated: I did like this place for their food but the quality has gone down in 2025 consistently. The fried chicken tastes stale.It is greasy and seems like it is fried in old oil. I forgave the first time but again and again it seems not fresh. The rice and salad is also average....no flavor.The atmosphere is basic. It is just a Caribbean average place for food. Worker shared some pro Trump views that are confusing to me but as they said.. they prefer a world were he is the leader and admires his policies. As a minority owned business I was surprised especially with looming tariffs he is bullying Canada with.My appetite left and despite paying for the food I will not be returning as I cannot support food that endorses Trump.It is good that the quality has gone down so I wont be missing much anymore.
